Splitter is a Photoshop script for splitting page spreads into separate files for left- and right pages (see right). This is useful if you design books by page spreads but must upload individual pages to the printer. PageSplitter will let you split a whole folder full of page spreads. Using it is easy: the input folder is the folder with page spreads, e.g., Page10.jpg. The output folder is where all the split pages will be saved, e.g., Page10L.jpg and Page10R.jpg. PageSplitter will not overwrite any files without asking you first.

Splitter is free of charge. Yes, free!

Download and installing

To download Splitter, simply click on the download button. This will download a file install-Splitter.jsx.

To install Splitter, double-click on install-Splitter.jsx. This should launch Photoshop and ask if you want to install an action for Splitter in the actions panel. (If you don't see the Action palette, you will find it under Window > Actions.)

If double-clicking doesn't work, you can also install Splitter by doing File > Scripts > Browse... and choosing install-Splitter.jsx.

Using Splitter

To start the Splitter script, simply click or run the "Splitter" action. Specify the input folder (where you have your spreads) and your output folder (where your pages should go). Optionally, if you check the PDF checkbox, the pages will be saved in PDF format.
